Malayan Flour Mills Berhad (MFM) is the pioneer wheat flour milling company in Malaysia, with operations located at Lumut and Pasir Gudang and a total milling capacity of 1,810 tons of wheat per day.
Apart from Malaysia, MFM also has similar operations in both Northern and Southern Vietnam. Milling more than half a million tons of wheat annually, we analyse and carry out a wide range of tests on the wheat imported globally from carefully selected suppliers in Canada, Australia, United States of America and Eastern Europe before procuring. This is done to meet the objective of achieving consistent quality flour for our customers. With more than 50 years in the flour milling business, we are able to impact our experience and knowledge to our customers, to assist them in achieving the highest quality in flour products at minimal cost. With our expertise and technology, we are able to recommend and mill flour according to customer’s specific requirements.
MFM Flour Mill at Lumut, Perak
Malayan Flour Mills Berhad (MFM) was incorporated on 24 June 1961 as a private limited company under the name Malayan Flour Mills Limited. It was converted to a public company on 16 May 1968 and assumed its current name. MFM was listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad on 10 July 1968.
MFM’s principal activities include milling and selling wheat flour and trading in grains and other allied products like bran, pollard and wheat germ.
MFM currently has two flour mills located at Batu Undan in the District of Dindings, Perak and Pasir Gudang Industrial Estate in Johor. The installed capacity of the mills at Lumut and Pasir Gudang are 1150 and 800 metric tons per day respectively.
MFM Flour mill at Pasir Gudang, Johor
Another mill in Pasir Gudang Industrial Estate in Johor has a built-up area of 173,225sq ft sitting on a 10.1 acres of land with tenure expiring in year 2051. The installed capacity of the mill is 800 metric tones per day. Flour products are mainly for domestic consumption with less than 5% of production exported yearly to Singapore and Brunei.
Mekong Flour Mills Ltd, Vietnam
Mekong Flour Mills Ltd (Mekong) was established in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in June 2000 as a 100% foreign owned company of MFM International Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of MFM. Strategically it complements the flour mill in Northern Vietnam.
Mekong’s flour mill is located at Phu My 1 Industrial Zone, Province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau in Southern Vietnam which is 75km from Ho Chi Minh City.
Mekong commenced its production in April 2003 with a milling capacity of 500 metric tons per day.
Vimaflour Ltd, Vietnam
Vimaflour Ltd (Vimaflour) is a 70:30 joint-venture between MFM and Vietnam Northern Food Corporation (Vinafood I) of Vietnam. It received its Investment Licence in September 1994 to mill and to sell wheat flour together with its allied products and is proud to be the first flour miller to operate in Northern Vietnam. It is also the most modern and efficient flour mill in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam located at Cai Lan Port of the famous Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province.
This modern flour mill has a flour milling capacity of 480 metric tons per day. Vimaflour commenced commercial operation in January 1998.
In order to service and support its customers more effectively Vimaflour expanded its milling capacity by 330 metric tons per day at an investment USD4.3 million. This expanded capacity was commissioned in October 2006.
