Making Waves: Successful Beach Cleanup
6 June 2023
A beach cleanup programme was successfully conducted at Teluk Senangin recreational beach in Lumut. The initiative involved 64 employees from DPP and received support from the Department of Environmental Health and Urban Services, Zone 3, and the Department of Community and Social Development, Manjung Municipal Council. It is part of DTSB’s corporate social responsibility to contribute towards the preservation of the surrounding environment, particularly at the public recreational beach in the Manjung district.
During the cleanup activity, we collected a total of 200.6 kgs of rubbish. The most commonly found items were plastic bottles, beverage cans, polystyrene, and even improperly disposed disposable diapers. This successful beach cleanup serves as a reminder of the urgent need for greater environmental consciousness among the local community and visitors. It emphasises the importance of collaboration between government entities, local authorities, businesses, and individuals in taking responsibility for maintaining the cleanliness of our natural surroundings.
